What ZipSage city data covers

Every city page pulls live data from verified public sources — Zillow for rent and home prices, Census ACS for population and income, FBI UCR for crime rates, Walk Score for walkability, and the Tax Foundation for state tax rates.

State income tax is one of the biggest financial variables most movers overlook. Moving from California to Texas on a $100K salary saves roughly $8,000–$12,000 per year in state income tax alone. Nine states have no income tax: Texas, Florida, Tennessee, Nevada, Washington, Wyoming, South Dakota, Alaska, and New Hampshire.

Crime data is reported per 100,000 residents so cities of different sizes are comparable. The national average violent crime rate is approximately 380 per 100,000. Cities below 200 are considered low — cities above 800 are high.
